Austin Community College: Highland Campus - Austin G: This is a two for one review: ACC Highland Campus and Austin PBSs new studio/offices.
Its a WOW! I was able to get a first look into the new Austin PBS studio days before its grand opening to the public. It may be empty now, with a few last minute furnishings and paint etc., but what a fantastic space it is and will be for Austin. The ACC campus is shared with Austin PBS grounds which are absolutely gorgeous. Beautifully set in the middle of a grove of old established oak trees youll find coffee and bakery shops, fooderies, and a nail salon that surround the campus.
Students who want to live close to the ACC campus will have various new apartment housing to choose from. Some residencies are so close to the ACC doors, students could roll out of bed and walk right across the street and be inside. Parking is generously available too, with several parking garages within walking distance from both Austin PBS and ACC. Bottom line... The new Austin PBS and ACC campus is a grand new indoor/outdoor space in Austin! St. Edwards University - Austin D Ward: Fantastic theatre program! And their events coordinators are always very good at their job. Ive attended plays, set up events, and met plenty of graduates from St Eds and I can tell its a great school. (From a Longhorn The University of Austin - Austin Joel: Best of this kind of university that Ive been to. The service is quick, the staff is amazing, their offerings are always on point, and the specials are definitely something you need to try out. But more than that, the whole atmosphere is truly wonderful to experience, they have a very cozy, very friendly environment and even the customers are kind, and love to smile. Its also not too expensive, I often take my whole family. Very affordable. NCTC Gainesville Campus | North Central Texas College - Gainesville Fahryn Marrs: Not sure who I talked to. I asked for my PREVIOUS years billing from NCTC to be sent to me because apparently they can only be mailed. I finally get it and it’s the WRONG thing. I was rushed off the phone and she didn’t seem to care or know much about what I was speaking of. Kinda off putting Austin Community College Public Safety Training Center - Kyle nick short: ACC’s Public Safety Training Center (PSTC) supports strong, safe communities by providing state-of-the-art training facilities for first responders and other public safety professionals. PSTC incorporates the latest advances in public safety training technology and sustainable design.
In addition to serving ACC students, the Public Safety Training Center is open to local, regional, state, national, and international public agencies for training related to public safety, emergency medical response, homeland security, and disaster preparedness/response.
PSTC training areas are also available to private organizations, public safety contractors, professional driving instructors and businesses by special arrangement. University of Houston-Clear Lake - Houston Joseph Master: This is my third college Ive gone too and while I will graduate from here, safe to say it is the least put together college of the 3, and I largely regret deciding to finish my degree plan here. The campus is nice the professors are fine, 100% of my problems come from being financial aid and the VA office that seems to do little to nothing to actually help veterans. Of the 3 semester Ive taken so far, I have had to hound the VA office to do things and as of the time of this, they failed to even submit my classes from last semester to the VA for billing (meaning Im in the hole 5 grand). For veterans looking for guidance with benefits, go somewhere else. I have had issues every semester and am entering my last semester with a combative mentality that I am going to have to hold their VA offices hand to make sure Im not completely screwed over. The Financial aid department also screwed me by marking me out of state tuition and are making me jump through paperwork hurdles, or beg the VA to apply my waivers, when they should have had me in state the whole time. No other college I have attended has made me do so much fighting for myself to get the minimum, and if not for me reaching out to San Jacinto Community College, id also have been completely left in the dark about a slew of veterans benefits that this office doesnt seem to have ever heard of. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE VETERANS. Texas Tech University - Junction Tracy Torbett: I spent a weekend here in early March with a Christian women’s retreat. The facilities met our needs wonderfully and the staff were very friendly. The cafeteria food was delicious. We enjoyed walking the trails and looking at the deer grazing. It was a good place to get away from the everyday and be surrounded by quiet and nice views. Would definitely use this facility again. Austin College - Sherman Pluto Princess: Austin College has never been anything, but a positive experience for me. As a sophomore, I’ve fallen in love with the academic opportunities on this campus. The class work may be challenging, but AC never leaves you without a support system. With small classroom settings, professors are available to help with lessons or assignments all throughout class. Office hours are always available for outside help and there are even of free tutoring opportunities.
As far as extra curricular activities, there are tons of them! Between Greek Life, personal expression clubs, language clubs and service groups… no interest goes unmet. If Greek life or clubs aren’t your thing, CAB (Campus Activity Board) makes sure there are events almost every night for students to take a break and relax with.
Campus life is great, but to help prepare us for graduate life as well, Career Services strives to get every student career-ready. They offer Career-Readiness Checks, mock interviews, internship opportunities, resume critiques and more to ensure that every student feels prepared for the real world after graduating.
Opportunities are endless here. I’m confident that by the time I leave Austin College, I will be better because of it.
