New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine - MineolaJ Wei: Make sure the clinic supervisor is overseeing treatment and herbs.
Majority of school staff and students are Chinese. They speak Chinese in class and arent very welcoming. School is suitable for non-working students who do NOT have ANY other responsibilities besides school. This is because the material and schedule is not organized or scheduled properly. Teaching style leaves students stressed to pass exams and not lose their money, but it is not an enriching experience. Very little is learned. This approach only works for the school and teachers, not students and future patients.
New York Institute of Technology – Long Island Campus - Old WestburyEliana Colina: I feel safer here than the Manhattan campus although the town is pretty boring. However the architecture program is amazing and my academics matter much more to me. Its true its hard to get people on the phone but if you are patient with them and you keep contact with your advisor you shouldnt have too many problems getting things resolved. Huge campus - you will definitely get some exercise.
SUNY Old Westbury - Old WestburyCao James: It was raining heavily today. The schools large parking lot is almost always full every day, so I can only choose to park in a farther parking lot and then walk to the classroom. So I brought an umbrella with me, otherwise my clothes would get wet. When I was almost at the classroom, I chose to go to the bathroom to put my umbrella away, because I didnt want to dirty the classroom floor with my umbrella. Because of this, when I came to get my umbrella after class, it was taken away. To be precise, it felt like it was taken away by the cleaner. After all, no one would be so poor as to steal an umbrella. Then I went to the library, hoping that the staff there could help me. But they said that they didnt know or have any contact with the cleaners of the new academic building. I also expressed my understanding, and then I asked for the phone number of their cleaning department, and they said they didnt have any. This surprised me a little that the administrators of a school had no contact information or communication channels with each other. Although this umbrella is not worth much even if it is new, this experience made me realize that if you leave some valuables in the classroom or bathroom or somewhere in the school in the future, the school may not be able to find them for you. This experience made me very disappointed. From now on, I will bring my umbrella into the classroom no matter how dirty it is.
LIU Post - GreenvaleNTTJJL: Went to see Boyz to men concert there.
It was awesome!!
Hofstra University - HempsteadNatalia Hanson: Chocolate Expo is our annual tradition. The variety of vendors selling chocolate, cookies, cakes, alcohol, and accessories is always impressive. Most of them have tasting samples helping to decide what you will buy.
Stony Brook University - Stony BrookSravana Sumanth Koneru: The campus is amazing.... mostly surrounded by nature and stuff and is peaceful. But sometimes it becomes "over peaceful" and becomes pretty boring if you do not have your own transport to go somewhere fun!!
Borough of Manhattan Community College - New YorkAissatou Barry: Bmcc will always be one of my favorite college where I took my prerequisite for the nursing program and graduated as a liberal art major in 2024. and now I’m planning to transfer to a private college. Bmcc is a great a place to start because you have a lot opportunities such as financial aid, tap, scholarships and you don’t have worries about financial problems. They have extraordinary professors , who are willing to help and totters. All you need is to focus and study. I’m really thankful Alhamdulily and thanks to Bmcc for everything they have done for me. I highly recommend Bmcc to anyone who’s interested studying in a community college.
Hunter College - New YorkNate Hopkins: Hunter College is a vital source of education in the heart of the city. This institution does excellent work providing a high-quality education for an outstanding number of both graduates and undergraduates students every year. I am extremely grateful for the educational opportunities I experienced here.
Marymount Manhattan College - New YorkNatalie Rivera: PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE APPLYING TO THIS SCHOOL
I attended the biology program as a transfer student and it was the worst mistake of my life. Marymount Manhattan puts up this facade that their small class size sets them apart from any other college in the city. Let me be clear: this school has more downfalls than advantages. This school requires their students to take general education courses as a freshman and then again at junior and senior levels. I was a biology major taking dance, film and painting during my junior year. Just another ploy to make more money.
I was told by an advisor that I would have to graduate a year late to take one single class in spring semester that was only offered every other year. If a class is mandatory for graduation, it should be offered every year. The shortage of staff to teach classes sets an automatic disadvantage for students. How can they expect a student to return to one of the most expensive cities in the world to take one single class?
The adjunct faculty is laughable. I took a painting class and had to buy everything out of pocket. I do not come from money as most students at this school and was told by my professor that my brushes were "too cheap". The courses from this college are impossible to transfer as they are considered a joke at even community colleges.
As a freshman my friend failed her first biology exam. Normal, not everyone is able to adjust to a college style exam right away. She immediately went to see her professor about improving her grade and she was told to change her major and her aspirations to go into medicine over her first ever college exam. Is that pushing your students to be successful?
Maybe the BFA programs are better, but I have only heard negative aspects about them as well. The majority of my anatomy class was failing and nothing was done by the staff to improve lessons regardless of the countless complaints by students.
The graduation rate is laughable. The advisor and bursar offices are laughable. They are quick to take your money for a transcript but never send it out. There is so much more to say about this college but it cannot be done in a single review.
Please do your due diligence before committing to this school. Countless people can tell you the many other options in the city you can choose from.
Mercy University - Manhattan Campus - New YorkJohnny B.: A pretty good college with a wide range of programs. Has options for a mix of in-class and online classes, which allows for flexibility based on different personal circumstances and schedules.
The best advantage is that many of the bisiness teachers are or were executives in the private sector and they bring this real experience to the classroom.
The admin side could benefit from some fine tuning, but overall a very good experience, never had issues with payments, processing or graduation. Recommended and the Manhattan campus is very well located, both in terms of access and being near center town.
