Fordham School of Professional and Continuing Studies Rose Hill - BronxRico Lucenti: As a military veteran with options to continue my education anywhere I chose Fordham University and the School of Professional and Continuing Studies for a number of reasons. As a working adult it allowed me to maintain my employment while offering a college campus experience at Rose Hill. All of my classes were a mixed of PCS, Fordham College, Lincoln Center, and Gabelli students. I was able to participate in campus events and Global Outreach projects all while earning a quality degree. I felt professors were very helpful and understanding for PCS students that have unique circumstances arise like late work days or Parent-Teacher meetings to attend. Attendance can be in resident, online, or hybrid. I completed my degree attending in a hybrid format meaning half of my classes were on campus and half were online. Classes for PCS students are available for attendance during the day,
night, and online, all of which I have attended. As a PCS student you are allowed to take classes at any Fordham campus so I have taken majority of my classes at Rose Hill both day and night but I also had a semester at Lincoln Center for day classes which was a really nice experience. The two campuses are very different with Lincoln Center being located on the upper west side near Central Park and midtown. It offered a fast pace hustle and bustle environment. Where as Rose Hill in the Bronx is a 85 acre traditional college campus nestled between the Bronx Zoo and the New York Botanical garden. I would encourage PCS students to experience both and then choose a main campus to attend. There is also a campus in Westchester but I didnt take any courses there but a nice option for those who live near the area. The Fordham traditional students respected and appreciated non-traditional input towards discussions and I feel PCS students appreciated the fresh perspective from traditional students. I never felt uncomfortable attending classes. I felt part of the campus. My academic advisor helped me tremendously towards my goals and the professors wrote me exceptional letters to continue post graduate studies. I had access to workshops and a plethora of internships and employment opportunities to which I encourage PCS students to take advantage. The student veterans association is amazing. The Director and student body leadership was always active and presenting opportunities such as seminars for employment, job interviews, resume,
LinkedIn profile, understanding veteran benefits, tutoring, and internship. They also provided many social gatherings and events like free tickets for Yankees, Mets, and NYCFC games and screenings of musical productions, plays, and movies. My experience was very rewarding and Im proud to have attended Fordham University as a non-traditional student through their School of Professional and Continuing Studies. Ultimately, the experience is what you make of it.
The City College of New York - New YorkDaniel Litwack: CCNY is an amazing institution. It has a wide variety of majors and minors, and a student can get a very well rounded education at this institution. Aside from education, there are always great events and lectures happening on campus covering a variety of topics. CCNY is not just for people working on their undergrad or graduate degrees, it is for everyone.
Boricua College - New YorkLedesma Alejandro: I dont attend this school, but I enjoy checking reviews and a lot of former students mention the predatory tacticts they have to get you in; the useless classes for their bachellors, and how expensive it is compared to the CUNY/SUNY System (which is thousand times bettter and cheaper), and how staff are rude. Someone even mention that it feels like nobody follows policy or the syllabus (which gives a lack of preparation). The overal feeling i got from these reviews is to think twice about going to this college/ just stay away.
