Student Advocacy Center - Tony Specht: If you dont know the work these people are doing... You should. Its a passionate dedicated staff. I am fortunate enough to speak to students here. Thats how I found out about them. I was blown away by the services offered. They have snacks for students as well as a pantry with food and hygiene needs. They have another room dedicated to clothing, shoes, ties and more (including childrens clothing). Please let everyone know about this place. I have meet several students that werent even aware of the free services. Please share the info. Students that are only virtual are eligible as well. They are there to talk to when youre at a crossroad or a cliff. All to help students so they can focus on their studies and not their finances. This is my go to place for donating. No middle man. Kudos to all the work they do. They will forever hold a place in my heart.
Lamson Institute - San AntonioSophia L.: I got a call from them once about me attending their institute, and they started asking personal questions like what does my parents do for work, and I didnt like that, so I told them I didnt like what they asked and was no longer interested. I then got a call the second time from them saying "we arent giving up on you" and I told them I am not interested and to please stop calling me, they then said "why". Are you serious? If someone says not interested they arent interested, leave them alone. Weird place and weird people, do not give this place your information.
Northwest Vista College Desert Willow Welcome Center - San AntonioGiovanni Vargas: I came across incompetent and aggressive Northwest Vista College (NVC) Vista Central Admissions and Records staff. The staff didnt know Texas residency laws and they almost wrongly classified me as a non resident, which would have cost me a lot of money. Luckily a supervisor got involved, and he knew Texas residency laws for college students. Residency laws are located in Texas Administrative Code title 19, part 1, chapter 21, subchapter b. I didnt know residency laws at the time, but I recommend knowing residency laws before physically requesting in-state residency at NVC. Admission staff may not know their job or relevant state laws well.
Texas Tech University - LubbockShailesh Patel: As an international student at Texas Tech University, I feel compelled to share my honest experience. Unfortunately, my time here has been disappointing, and I would not recommend this university to prospective students—especially those coming from abroad. I have found that the support systems for international students are lacking, and I have experienced significant challenges that made me question the value of the education relative to the cost. Moreover, I’ve observed instances of discrimination that made the environment feel unwelcoming. Considering the financial and emotional investment required to study abroad, I advise future students to carefully reconsider before choosing Texas Tech University.
