Adelphi University - Garden City M C: This is such a great university. I went for the pre college nursing program and it was such a wonderful experience. The cafeteria is great and I was literally in heaven. The atmosphere is great as well. Campus is very pretty in the summer and theres bunnies hopping around once in a while. Houghton University - Houghton Keith Pritchard: Wasted a year here. Such a backwards place in the middle of nowhere. So close minded and controlling. Such a traumatic place for LGBTQ people, whom many of my classmates were. Not a safe place for young adults to explore who they are. Poor student life activities. Music program was also very very limited and no musical theater or jazz programs. No dancing allowed and no visiting with friends of the opposite sex in dorms. Families and friends of all cultures participated. It was grouped, with long queues to purchase most things. We had a wonderful experience despite the freezing temperature. Majority of school staff and students are Chinese. They speak Chinese in class and arent very welcoming. School is suitable for non-working students who do NOT have ANY other responsibilities besides school. This is because the material and schedule is not organized or scheduled properly. Teaching style leaves students stressed to pass exams and not lose their money, but it is not an enriching experience. Very little is learned. This approach only works for the school and teachers, not students and future patients. New York Institute of Technology – Long Island Campus - Old Westbury Eliana Colina: I feel safer here than the Manhattan campus although the town is pretty boring. However the architecture program is amazing and my academics matter much more to me. Its true its hard to get people on the phone but if you are patient with them and you keep contact with your advisor you shouldnt have too many problems getting things resolved. Huge campus - you will definitely get some exercise. SUNY Old Westbury - Old Westbury Cao James: It was raining heavily today. The schools large parking lot is almost always full every day, so I can only choose to park in a farther parking lot and then walk to the classroom. So I brought an umbrella with me, otherwise my clothes would get wet. When I was almost at the classroom, I chose to go to the bathroom to put my umbrella away, because I didnt want to dirty the classroom floor with my umbrella. Because of this, when I came to get my umbrella after class, it was taken away. To be precise, it felt like it was taken away by the cleaner. After all, no one would be so poor as to steal an umbrella. Then I went to the library, hoping that the staff there could help me. But they said that they didnt know or have any contact with the cleaners of the new academic building. I also expressed my understanding, and then I asked for the phone number of their cleaning department, and they said they didnt have any. This surprised me a little that the administrators of a school had no contact information or communication channels with each other. Although this umbrella is not worth much even if it is new, this experience made me realize that if you leave some valuables in the classroom or bathroom or somewhere in the school in the future, the school may not be able to find them for you. This experience made me very disappointed. From now on, I will bring my umbrella into the classroom no matter how dirty it is.
